Before I start any bio’s, I would like to apologize for slacking on my blog-game. Between finals, games, and the holidays, I have been bombarded and lacking on my own free time. However, I had no idea 1. That many people read my blog or 2. That anyone actually missed it. So, I take the weekly call-outs of “Lex, what happened to your blog?” or, “When are you actually going to post something again?..” as compliments. I figured we’d close out this year with one last bio and HOPEFULLY a team “New Years Resolution” post–that all depends, if my teammates are willing, to divulge their resolutions with moi–we’ll see and I will keep you posted.
With no further ado, I’m wrapping up the year with introducing you to one of the most loving, beautiful, ocd-prone, and caring individuals that I am lucky to call my teammate, Kathleen Elizabeth Cooper–or as we like to call her, Kitty.
“Where r u?”–If my phone ever lights up with Kat’s name I can guarantee that it will 99% of the time have this message attached. Kat keeps tabs on us, both literally and figuratively. In the whirl-winds of bad days, Kat is one of the few people I turn to when I need someone to tell me it’s going to be okay. She is a constant, stable girl who helps you get your life on track, even when her world may be blowing up right with yours. She puts you first. Whether it be the quick breakfast she speedily eats with you in the morning, the afternoons you drag her to dunkin donuts and have movie marathons, or the way she insisits on saying “okay bye love you” even when only departing for an hour, Kat never fails to be there for you.
Kat reigns from Tacoma, Washington. Do not ask her if it rains a lot, she will get defensive and inform you that it is actually the greatest place on this entire planet. She loves the Sea Hawks and will ramble on for hours about her childhood, if you let her. She is yet another member of our team with a twin (it’s a weird reoccurring fact on our team) and was raised by her two lovely parents. Oh, and might I just add that she is her fathers clone…their laugh, their face, and down to the same hand gestures. It is beyond freaky, but charmingly adorable. The reason I bring up some of Kat’s background is because she is insanely proud of where she comes from. Her eyes light up and her face is spread with her goofy smile as she reminices on the times of playing in her neighborhood, or on her “property” back at home in Washington. She loved drinking “pop” and doesn’t understand how kid’s don’t play outside anymore; since that’s where she spent most of her days. I love this about Kat because I relate with it. It’s crazy to me that someone who grew up on the polar opposite side of the country could be that strikingly similar to me. Kat’s stories bring me back to my own childhood, and on the days where homesickness eats away at you–yes, I know I’m only two hours away, and yes, Kat is a 7 hour plane ride so she is allowed to complain more–her stories help.
As I sit here and scroll through pictures, I guess that’s why I am incapable of finding a solo picture of Kat–there aren’t any. Kat is never alone because she spends her time constantly being there for us. Now, do not get me wrong–there are days that I actually want to hit Kat in the face. For instance, don’t even think of switching up the order of our warm-ups. You will be cussed out and repremanded by the supersiticious-queen herself. And if you think you are taking her spot on the couch between pre-game meal and game-time…you have another thing comin’ to ya. Kat likes things the Kat-way. But hey, the Kat-way may have a few annoying aspects but I’d take them for the fact of all the amazing things it brings as well.
Kat has a way of making some of the most basic moments special. Her laugh alone makes anyone burst out even when nothing is funny–and trust me, Kat laughs at everything. So it’s a 50/50 call if anything is actually funny. She loves you even when you’re not very lovable, and lets you lean on her when you are no longer able to stand up straight for yourself. Kat is a rare person and someone I am beyond blessed to call not only my teammate, but one of my closest friends.
